Meet our team
The Carlton Park committee meets regularly to ensure the smooth running of the Club.
I have been involved in Surf Life Saving for over 25 years, achieving my bronze in the 90s with Burnie S.L.S.C. I was Junior Manager at Carlton Park S.L.S.C. for 3 years whilst my children went through the Nipper movement. I have been on the C.P.S.L.S.C.’s executive for 4 years before taking on the position as President.
I have been involved with Carlton Park SLSC since nippers. Through my involvement in the club I have been lucky enough to form amazing friendships and learn invaluable life skills. I have patrolled the beach for 10 years and am also involved in competition. I compete in surf boat rowing and love the camaraderie and excitement that comes with the sport. I am looking forward to being part of the committee and giving back to a community that has given me so much.
I joined the club with my children in 2003 to ensure they would learn surf safety as they lived locally. We all quickly made friends and it wasn’t too long before I was helping out with nipper training, the canteen and social events. From there it was short step to gaining my Bronze and volunteering on Patrols (just for a few years). I have held the roles of Communication Officer, Registrar and Secretary with a break from the Committee for a couple of years and now back on board as Secretary.
My association with the surf club dates back to the late 70’s early 80’s. Some of my fondest memories of my teenage years, young adult life and present times involve the surf club and it’s extended family. I have been a former secretary, treasurer and registrar for the club. I am excited to be involved with the next stage of the clubs history as the much anticipated club house renovations and upgrades begin. There is nothing better than sitting on the balcony of the club on a balmy evening with a glass of bubbles, watching the surf roll in and chatting to some of the wonderful people in my life.
Manager Life Saving
I have been a member of Carlton Park SLSC since completing my Bronze Medallion 6 years ago, and was previously a nipper at Kingston Beach SLSC. I loved going to carnivals as a nipper, and more recently have enjoyed the life saving aspects such as patrolling and involvement with programs such as the Lifesaving Development Camp. I’m excited to be part of the committee and give back to the club and community.
Amity Peart & Cate Hutton
Fortunate enough to have a father already heavily involved in Junior Surf Life Saving at Penguin, it was inevitable that my life would be spent at the beach. My motivations are simple enough, sharing the “beach life” with as many willing kids and parents as possible and showing them how to go about it safely and how to protect those that are new to the environment. As development officer it’s my goal to open pathways in our sport and association generally to those that choose not to compete, patrol or gain their proficiency. My favourite part of the week is coaching our seahorses and I would love to see them all stay at the club until they have children of their own and make their own beach memories.
Club House Manager
I joined the Carlton Park Surf Club in 2015 because I wanted to do more in my local community. Right away I put my hand up to be a part of the committee and have since joined the men’s surf boat crew. My experience so far has been both enjoyable and rewarding, and I’m excited for my son to start Nippers in the future to embrace the Surf Club culture.
